What is Telebib2?

Telebib2 is the Belgian insurance industry's standard for electronic data exchange. Developed and maintained by the Belgian insurance sector, it defines the protocols, message formats and workflows that enable insurers, brokers and intermediaries to exchange insurance data electronically in a standardised way.

Telebib2 is the successor to the original Telebib standard and is widely adopted across the Belgian insurance market. It covers the full insurance lifecycle — from product enquiry and policy issuance to claims handling and premium collection.

What Telebib2 covers

Policy Management

Standardised messages for policy creation, modification, renewal and cancellation — enabling straight-through processing between brokers and insurers.

Product & Tariff Exchange

Structured formats for exchanging product information and tariff data, enabling automated quoting and product comparison.

Claims Processing

Standardised claims notification and status update messages, reducing manual handling and accelerating claims settlement.

Premium & Accounting

Electronic premium statements, commission calculations and accounting reconciliation between brokers and insurers.

Telebib2 in MCP servers

MCP servers implementing Telebib2 wrap the standard's message formats in tool-callable interfaces. AI agents operating in the Belgian insurance market can then interact with Telebib2-compliant systems using natural language, with the MCP server handling protocol translation and message formatting.

Query and manage policies through Telebib2-compliant insurer systems

Submit claims notifications in standard Telebib2 message format

Retrieve product and tariff data for automated quoting
