What is BiPRO?

BiPRO (Brancheninstitut für Prozessoptimierung) is a German non-profit organisation that develops and maintains standardised interfaces for the insurance industry. Its norms define how insurers, brokers, and intermediaries exchange data electronically — covering everything from policy enquiries to claims processing.

BiPRO standards are widely adopted across the German-speaking insurance market (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and are increasingly referenced in European digital insurance initiatives.

Key BiPRO norms

BiPRO 430.x

Tariff & Product Data

Standardised exchange of tariff and product information between insurers and distribution partners. Enables automated product comparison and quoting.

BiPRO 502.x

Contract & Policy Management

Interfaces for creating, modifying and querying insurance contracts. Covers policy lifecycle from application to cancellation.

BiPRO 503.x

Claims Processing

Standardised claims intake, status queries and settlement workflows. Enables straight-through processing for common claim types.

BiPRO in MCP servers

MCP servers that implement BiPRO norms wrap existing BiPRO SOAP/REST endpoints in a tool-callable interface. AI agents can then query policy data, submit claims or retrieve tariff information using natural language — with the MCP server handling the BiPRO protocol translation.

Query live policy data via BiPRO 502 contract interfaces
